The English language, with its rich history and cultural influences, has incorporated a significant number of borrowed lexical units from various languages. While these borrowings contribute to the language's diversity and expressiveness, their impact on student learning remains a subject of exploration. Previous research has established the presence and influence of borrowings, but there is a scientific gap in understanding how to optimize their role in language pedagogy.
There is a lack of comprehensive understanding about the impact of borrowed lexical units in the English language on student learning. This research project aims to address this gap by investigating the influence of borrowed words on students' language skills, cultural awareness, and overall learning experience.
By analyzing the sources, usage, and contextual integration of borrowed words, we can develop effective teaching strategies and enhance students' ability to communicate effectively in a diverse linguistic environment.
The main objectives of the research are the following:
•Identify the most common sources of borrowed words in the English language, such as Latin, Greek, French, and others.
•Analyze the frequency and context of borrowed word usage in various fields, including science, technology, art, and everyday speech.
•Investigate the impact of borrowed words on student learning, including the benefits and challenges they may pose.
•Develop teaching strategies and methodologies that effectively utilize borrowed words to enhance students' language skills.
After completing the objectives we are planning to achieve the following results:
•Database of Borrowed Words: Create a database of frequently used borrowed words, including their origins, meanings, and usage examples
•Teaching Strategies: Propose effective teaching strategies and methodologies that take into account the nature of borrowed words, helping students enhance their language skills
•Recommendations: Develop recommendations for English language instructors on the use and teaching of borrowed words, including potential challenges and strategies to overcome them
